Within Grosvenor there is a strong culture of faithful people giving generously. We believe that giving is part of our worship.
Primarily it involves giving ourselves to God. The Bible also encourages us to give our time and invest our talents as part of the local church body, but it regularly refers to giving financially as a tangible expression of our giving.
When do I give?
Paul writing to the Christians in Corinth recommends that ‘On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with their income…’ 1 Cor 16:2. This can be through the offering on a Sunday or by setting up a Standing Order with our bank or through online card giving.
There are other opportunities to give offerings as well. Offerings are free-will offerings above and beyond the tithe.
What should I give?
As a church familiy we encourage regular attenders to give generously according to their circumstances. For some this will be more than others, but the Bible’s default guidance is 10% of our income.
Tithing is our foundation for giving. The Bible teaches us that it is the baseline standard for giving. When we give the first 10% of our income to the church, this is an expression of putting God first in our lives. Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude to God, our faith, and love for others.
Offerings are free-will offerings above and beyond the tithe.
